Pronounced as “may tie”, the Mei Tai is usually a style of baby carrier that is very popular today. The reason is because it is very comfortable for both you and your child. The Mei Tai is the square or rectangular piece of fabric which is folded in a specific way that will help you carry your baby.
This specific style of carrier actually dates back to Asia where in the very ancient days mothers carried their babies through the use of simple fabrics which are tied to their bodies. This allowed the mother to carry out her daily chores and attend to her baby simultaneously.
It is a very traditional way of carrying your baby and more mothers are beginning to use this style. They’ve found out that it’s very comfortable and versatile because your baby can be worn in the front or the back. It can also be used from newborn to toddler and older if you need to do so.
Many mothers are switching for the Mei Tai baby carrier because of the comfort level they feel. For example, many have realized that they had to abandon their old slings after the first few months simply because they became very uncomfortable as their newborns grew older.
Mothers also like this Asian baby carrier because it is fashionable and comes in a variety of colors. Other unique features include two padded shoulder straps and waist straps and it has a square body. These provide you with unlimited ways to position your child and it is a one size fits all carriers; which mean it doesn’t have to be fitted to your baby.
The way in which the baby is positioned and the way the baby is tied to your body is all determined by the way straps are tied to your body. You may also wear it in any season because it can accommodate light clothing or over a coat.
The Mei Tai carrier is very simple to use and there are many great pictures to show you exactly how to wrap it. Moms say it only takes a little practice and you can create any style you want with it.
This Asian baby carrier is becoming very popular in the West because it is very easy for dads or other family members to use so that the baby bonds with everyone in the family. To summarize, here are basic reasons why this baby Mei Tai carrier is becoming so popular:
You have a variety of carrying positions that include the front, back or your hip. You can change things around to get what is most comfortable for you. You can carry your child from birth until they are toddlers or older.

None are equipped with snaps, buckles or clips to hamper your baby’s movement or to get caught on something as you go about daily tasks. The Mei Tai carrier is the perfect fit for any mom who desires to be comfortable all the time.
