Having a baby is a very special wonderful time. From the minute you find out you are pregnant right through till after the birth, there is plenty to do and to buy! When you reach the 12 week period and the highest risk of having a miscarriage has passed, is the time most people start to think about buying things for the baby.
On a practical note buy a few baby magazine and work out exactly what you will need for when the baby comes. If you are on a budget you may want to ask around family and friends for any items that they do not need anymore, or look at the budget ranges that all baby stores do.
If you are having to stick to a low budget, then it does not mean that the baby’s nursery will not be lovely, a gorgeous nursery can be obtained on a very low, tight budget and the baby will not know any different.
If you would like the nursery to be matching and classical looking then you could choose a baby bedding collection that ties all the soft furnishings in the room in together so it all matches.
You have a couple of choices when it comes to buying a crib. With a convertible baby crib white is a good colour for a nursery as it is a classic look. These convertible cribs turn into a bed for when your child becomes a toddler. Or you can get standard cribs.
Convertible baby furniture that has multiple functions are a useful choice if you are short on space. Also look at furniture that can expand or change as your child gets older.
If you are going to be up nursing the baby and trying to get them to sleep and want to do it in comfort look at getting a nursery rocking chair, they allow for the mum nursing the baby.
Make sure the first lot of clothes you buy for the baby are sensible, they will need to be changed quite a lot in the early days and it makes sense to keep them dressed in clothes that are comfortable for them and also easy to wash and dry!
Choosing the right pram or travel system can take quite a bit of looking at, take into consideration your budget, the size of your boot, whether you have to take public transport and how much walking you expect to do, otherwise you will end up buying another pram for various aspects of your activities.
