What can i do with my 19 month old son?
I need some ideas to do with my 19 month old son. I try to do so much with him but i feel like he gets bored because he’l start hitting and sometimes crying. I try walks, coloring, the zoo, he goes to daycare to play with kids for a few hours once or twice a week when im not at work, i try baking with him, letting him pour in ingrediants and stirring, swinging, toys, reading, i take him out shopping, he loves being outside, but now that winter is coming i dont know what we can do so that he doesnt get bored. I feel that when he hits hes usually bored and wants different attention. Its only gonna get harder when it gets cold bc we wont be able to go for walks or play outside like we do now. Any suggestions?
Sounds like you do a lot with him already. Hows about messy play in the kitchen, finger painting, foot prints. Make playdo with him which he can amuse himself with for hours making different figurings etc, or make potatoe printers for in paints. You could get him making a little garden in a box and watching it grow, or get him growing herbs in pots and then using them in your cooking so he starts learning where food comes from. Even though he is still young young Im sure he will find it interesting even if you do end up doing most of it yourself.
Maybe if you could find something to do that involves helping other people it will start to help him think about other peoples feelings and then maybe help with the hitting, nature groups are usually good for this but winter isnt probably the best time although maybe there is something running in your area.
You could make supernanny style reward charts together so he can get a reward when hes doing good and get put down on it when he’s hitting and being naughty.
Ummmmm get him sticking things….. u could start making christmas decorations already.
Take him swimming or doing something physically tiring so he can get tired out.
And ummmmm look on your local councils website for things to do in your area, or even contact the library, they usually have loads of leaflets of stuff you can do, days out and things.
