What can you pick up on a scanner in the UK these days?
Normal scanners cannot pick up digital encrypted transmissions and I believe some public services have switched to those transmissions. If you have a scanner, what can you pick up? Or if you know anything about this I’d like to hear from you.

Not a fat lot to be honest. Aircraft ground and air transmissions 118MHz-136MHz, Aircraft ILS/VOR 107-117MHz (data), taxis, some PMR (170MHz ish) and walkie talkies (49MHz, 460MHz), data streams from electricity gas and water substations, amateur radio (50MHz, 70MHz, 144MHz and 432MHz). The Plod and ambulance services have all moved to Tetra digital radio.
